Title I

Title I operates as a part of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001.  The major areas of focus for

Title I programs are reading and mathematics.

In Muscogee County, the Title I program is funded to provide extra services to help economically disadvantaged children meet the same high level of academic proficiency as that which is expected of all children.

Accelerated Reader

The goals of the Reading Renaissance program are

  • to create measurable growth in student reading ability

  • to help students become independent, self-directed readers and learners

  • to make reading fun and help students develop a lasting love of reading

Accelerated Reader is a reading practice program for all students in grades one through five.  Students take the STAR Reading test so that teachers and the media staff can help the student select appropriate AR books.  Students read the book, and then take a computerized test about the book.  The AR management system automatically scores the test and keeps a reading log of books the student reads as well as the test scores and points earned.  AR reports are included with report cards.

Accelerated Math

Accelerated Math (AM) is a task-level learning information system.  The program combines two technologies - a problem generator and a progress tracker.  The teacher assigns objectives to the class or individual students then, AM prints a personalized assignment for each student.  Students complete the assignments and AM automatically scores the assignments and provides instant feedback to the teacher and students.  AM generates the next practice assignment for each student taking into account the objectives mastered and the new objectives assigned.
